Dear Parents and Students,

Students are now studying matter.  They are learning about their physical and chemical characteristics.  They are also going to learn about the atom, its characteristics, their place in the periodic table and how they combine to make compounds.  Please make sure you child studies their notes daily.

Thank you,

Welcome to the new life science homepage.  Life science is the "study of living things," i.e., biology.  It includes the study of bacteria, algae, fungi, plants and all kinds of animals.  Our study of life science will begin with the characteristics of life/living things.  This will be followed by a brief description of the major domains and kingdoms of living things.  We will then study cells and their structure and function in living organisms.

After studying cells, we will learn about genetics, i.e., how traits are passed from one generation to the next.  This will be followed by human anatomy and health.  Finally, we will finish the year studying ecology.

This should be an interesting year.  We will learn a lot of information about living things.   I hope you have fun learning life science this year.
